Get ready musical fans for the sweet vocal sounds of Makedah Goulbourne, a native New Yorker. Born, and raised as a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel is Makedah from the tribe of Gad. She was born into a musically inclined Rastafarian family with roots hailing from Jamaica, W.I. At the tender age of five Makedah, who was constantly surrounded by music, found her young-self singing along to tunes. By the time she was 11 years old her natural singing abilities were further developed resulting from vocal training. She eventually recorded her first song My Boy Lollipop, a remake of Milly Smalls’ added with notes that complimented its’ original. Makedah began writing her own lyrics, and continued to improve her musical craft. By the time she arrived on the scene she already had considerable amounts of experience. Known for her luring sharpness, and refreshingly raspy, soulful tone. Her blends of multi-cultural references are evident in her signature sound. Makedah has harmonized for a variety of artists such as: Bush Man, Anthony B, Diana King, Junior Jazz, Sister Carol, Bigga Haitian, and Fred Locks to name a few, and appeared on numerous venues including Twelve Tribes of Israel stage shows. Making her debut as a solo artist, on the Orthodox Muzik compilation CD Shine Your Light, Makedah delivers heartfelt songs like Promise You, and Life Song. She truly is a treasure for your musical, and educational delight. |
